Creating a Nurturing Learning Environment
At Boronia K-12 College, we provide a safe, supportive, and stimulating environment that engages and challenges students and adults. Our goal is to foster a love for learning, enable individuals to experience success, and nurture effective and caring members of the global community.
Wellbeing Support for All
To support this mission, we offer short-term wellbeing support for students. Referrals can be made by parents/guardians, school staff, or students themselves. Our wellbeing program aims to help students gain a deeper understanding of the world and make informed decisions that lead to functional, fulfilling lives. Best of all, there is no cost for the support provided by our dedicated Wellbeing Team.
Our Approach to Student Wellbeing
We believe in empowering students to bring about positive change they identify. Our counselling and mentoring sessions are designed with the following principles:
- Positive Help-Seeking Behavior: Encouraging students to seek help positively.
- Psychoeducation: Providing educational resources to enhance mental health awareness.
- Goal Setting: Helping students set and achieve personal goals.
- Trauma-Informed Practice: Utilizing the Berry Street Education Model to support students with a history of trauma.
Expectations for Students
Students are expected to engage actively in sessions with an open mind and a willingness to complete tasks that contribute to positive outcomes. If a student is not engaging productively, the Wellbeing Team will address the concern, assess possible alternatives, or discontinue support if necessary. Students can be re-referred for support later if needed.
We are here to support our students every step of the way in their journey towards well-being and personal growth.
