All students access the library weekly in order to borrow and return books for reading both at home and at school.
Borrowing limits are
Kinder and Foundation: 1 book
Years 1 & 2: Up to 2 books
Years 3 – 6: Up to 4 books
As a K-12 College, there is a wide selection of texts for students to access and our highly experienced librarian who is able to assist both students and teachers with text selection. Our College Library is open to all students most lunchtimes to borrow or read texts in a quiet, friendly atmosphere.
Our Library also supports families to purchase books to add to their collection with an annual book fair. Supported by Lamont, students have access to a wide range of books they can purchase, with commission allowing us to continue to resource our library with new texts.
As a College, we also have a large emphasise on celebrating stories – from our work on education and story telling during culturally significant days/dates such as Reconciliation Week to Book Week events and participation in National Simultaneous Story Time!

The Arts - MUSIC
Our BK-12 Music Room is extremely well equipped and students have a weekly lesson with our specialist teacher, focusing on the development of the whole Arts Curriculum including elements of Dance, Drama and Music. They have many opportunities for performance throughout the school year including Junior and Whole School Assemblies and a bi-annual Junior School Production. Our annual Christmas Concert showcases their learning of song, dance and instruments as each class showcases their talents in a celebration of community spirit.
We are also committed to provide a user pays Instrumental Music program for those students who wish to explore and learn an instrument. This is available to Primary and Secondary students and so they can continue to grow and develop in their chosen instrument for as long as they wish. These students are able to participate in school bands and concerts to complement their work as performers. Our strong Choir also performs regularly for our school Assemblies and in the community.

STEAM
All of our Junior School students participate in STEAM: Science, Technology, Engineering, Art and Maths specialist sessions with our STEAM teacher who is passionate about the design and engineering process. This is housed in our STEAM Lab located in the Design and Technology building. As a K-12 College, we have access to facilities such as 3D printers, Robotics equipment and Science Labs to provide more specialist instruction.
For our Senior Primary Student (Year 5/6) we are able to work with KIOSC (Knox Innovation Opportunity & Sustainability Centre) at Swinburne TAFE to provide specialist, hands on learning opportunities at regular intervals through the year, free of charge to parents. This allows us to access expertise and specialist equipment to continue to build on students skills, knowledge and understanding of all the elements of STEAM.

Physical Education
All of our students participate in a continuous program of physical development. Our Physical Education specialist teacher conducts these lessons weekly. The children will need suitable footwear for these lessons (runners, sneakers), particularly when using our full-sized gymnasium as floor protection.
As a K-12 College, our whole school participates in Athletics and Swimming carnivals off site. Students are able to participate in a variety of age-appropriate events and activities throughout the day, while spending time in their ‘House’ groups, developing friendship and team work with students throughout the year levels.
In Term 4, Swimming lessons are also offered off site for Foundation to Year 4 students to support families in their endeavour to ensure that students can be safe around water.
Our Senior Primary students (Year 5 and 6) participate in Interschool Sports where they compete against local schools in a selection of Summer and Winter Sports throughout the year. These round robin style events completement our Physical Education and Sport program but also give students a sense of team work and resilience through competition.

Languages
At Boronia K-12 College, our Languages program incorporates AUSLAN from Foundation to Year 2 and Spanish from Year 3. Through the acquisition of additional language lessons expose students to meaningful language experiences and encourages them to participate through play and exploration.
Language learning in the primary school years builds as students begin to discover and apply language conventions. Students benefit from explicit focus on form (mechanics and grammar) linked to meaningful experiences and are immersed in cultural connections.
