Learning in our Junior School is purposeful, engaging and underpinned by high expectations. Through evidence-informed teaching practices, explicit instruction and rich opportunities for inquiry, students develop the knowledge, skills and dispositions they need to become capable learners, critical thinkers and active members of their community. We recognise that every child learns differently and work in partnership with families to ensure each student is challenged, supported and celebrated throughout their learning journey.
Our classrooms are places where relationships matter. We know that children learn best when they feel safe, connected and valued. Our dedicated teachers take the time to build strong relationships with every student, creating classrooms where kindness, respect and belonging are at the heart of everything we do. Alongside academic success, we place a strong emphasis on developing social and emotional skills, self-regulation, independence and a genuine love of learning. That is why we also have committed to a 20 minutes timetabled session every day before recess with which to explicit teach social emotional learning through the structured curriculum scaffolds of School Wide Positive Behaviour Supports and the Respectful Relationships Curriculum.
