Sport and PMP

Our F-2 students participate in classroom teacher led Perpetual Motor Program (PMP) sessions that complement to Physical Education Specialist Program. In consultation with the Physical Education Specialist teacher, our classroom teachers employ PMP as it is a movement-based program which helps younger students improve their eye/hand and eye/foot coordination, fitness, balance, locomotion and eye-tracking skills. It is also a chance for cohorts of students to spend time together and get to know each other as well as other teachers.

In Years 3 – 6, students participate in Year Level Sport, building on the skills explicitly taught in the PE Specialist program. This focuses on Team Work skills and familiarity with games, rules and strategy. It also enables student to practice and refine the skills required for our extra-curricular sports programs such as Athletics, Hoop Time and Inter School Sports Competitions (years 5/6).

Since 2019 our Koorie students have been involved in the Journey Tracks program that aims to build Cultural identity in our students. The program works with students in a strengths based way to create a sense of belonging and identity within the school, family and Community.

The program aims to promotes Cultural safety in the school, have student’s feel an increased connection to their Culture and pride in expressing their heritage. We want them to feel empowered to share their Cultural knowledge with their teachers and peers and lead Acknowledgements of Country at school events. The program also aims to decrease racism and barriers within our school and create a platform for reconciliation. In 2019 the students wrote the acknowledgment of Country above.

Breakfast Club

Foodbank Victoria, in partnership with the Victorian Government launched the School Breakfast Clubs Program which operates at Boronia K-12 College each morning in the performing arts centre foyer, 8:30am-8:50am.

Each morning the wellbeing team runs the program to ensure that all students start their day off with a healthy breakfast. The breakfast choices we have available are cereal, fruit, oats, toast (some days) and through a partnership with Boronia Community Church of Christ, we offer Toastie Thursday. It’s a great way to start the day with a healthy breakfast and a chat with the wellbeing team.
